Tsawout First Nation is one of five bands that constitute the Saanich Nation. Located on the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island, Tsawout is approximately 240 hectares in size and has a population of approximately 1,600 members with approximately 1/3 of the population being registered band members.

Tsawout First Nation is currently looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk / Payroll Clerk to join our Accounting team. The individual will be responsible for processing and reviewing all accounts receivable transactions prior to approval.

This is a full time 1 year term position and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The successful candidate will report to our Financial Controller.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Secures revenue by verifying and posting receipts; resolving discrepancies.
  • Accounts Receivable, Accounts payable.

Job Duties:

  • Secures revenue by verifying and posting receipts; resolving discrepancies.
  • Posts customer payments by recording cash, cheques, and credit card transactions.
  • Posts revenues by verifying and entering transactions from lock box and local deposits.
  • Updates receivables by totaling unpaid invoices.
  • Maintains records - invoices, debits, and credits. Filing.
  • Resolves valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries.
  • Resolves invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures.
  • Resolves collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history.
  • Summarizes receivables by maintaining invoice accounts; coordinating monthly transfer to accounts receivable account; verifying totals; preparing report.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • collect, compile and enter payroll data using appropriate software.
  • calculate and post payroll deductions.
  • process payroll by established deadlines.
  • issue statements of earnings and deductions.

  • Solid foundation in accounting, general math skills, data entry and knowledge of financial software.
  • Ability to analyze information and ability to research and report results.
